Tokyo’s New Vegetarian Revolution Has High Hopes for the 2020 Olympics

Thirty vegetarians are banding together to create a campaign convincing Tokyo restaurant owners of the benefits of having vegetarian menus which cater to the growing vegetarian population. Despite Japan having a rich history of vegetarian recipes and practices, especially Buddhist traditions, the population of restaurants offering vegetarian menus are in the minority. Using tourism as a motivating factor, the coalition of vegetarians in Japan hope to have 50,000 restaurants on board by the 2020 Olympics.
